Large sports bag size: What volume to choose?

When you practice a sport that requires bulky clothing or many accessories, it is no longer a question of settling for a small sports bag. Whether you’re carrying Kendo equipment, several complete football kits or going on a mountain hike for several days, you can’t just have a small backpack. Certain activities therefore require the use of a men’s sports bag large model. Depending on what you are going to carry and your body type, not all sports bags will suit you. Let’s see how to choose a sports bag volume adapted to your needs and constraints.

A 45 liter sports bag for short distances

If you have to transport sports equipment over relatively short distances, a 45 liter sports bag like the Tepee bag from Karkoa will allow you to store a good amount of clothing and accessories.

A large sports bag with a shoe compartment and plenty of pockets will ensure you can carry several changes of outfits if necessary as well as small equipment. Don’t forget, whatever the size of the bag and the number of compartments, to provide one or more waterproof bags to separate wet or damp clothes and towels from the rest of your belongings.

The waterproof bag included with all Karkoa bags will be perfect for this need:

A 75 liter sports bag for bulky accessories

Some sports may require an even larger bag size, with a capacity of at least 75 liters. These are typically sports bags used by footballers or rugby players.

Be careful though, who says large capacity means a significant weight of the bag. A heavy bag, even a short distance, can be difficult to move. So pay attention to the carrying system and choose backpacks with comfortable carrying straps or a wheeled bag which will allow you to move around more easily with much less effort.

A 120 liter sports bag for multi-day hikes

If you have to go hiking for more than three days, with your change of clothes, your sleeping bag and your food, a large capacity hiking bag will be necessary. Pay attention again to the size of the bag. A backpack must be adapted to the length of the wearer’s back, as must its carrying system. For optimal carrying comfort, also ensure that the weight of the loaded bag does not exceed 20% of your weight. For example, if you weigh 80 kg, your hiking backpack should not exceed 16 kg when full. You will therefore have to choose carefully what you are going to take. For better comfort, the back of the bag should be reinforced and padded. Do not hesitate to go to the store to try on hiking bags to determine which model will best suit your body type.

Also carefully examine the inside of the sports backpack which should be compartmentalized so as to separate your belongings. It is obviously not desirable for your dirty clothes to mix with your change of clothes and even less so with your food. A separate pocket with a shoe compartment is also essential so you can easily access a spare pair without having to empty your backpack.
